Witches, Ghosts, Monsters, and More in 10 Great HALLOWEEN chapter books for kids/juveniles/children in elementary school (1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, and 6th grade). Alohamora Open a Book http://www.alohamoraopenabook.blogspot.com/ book list best books

If you are wanting to read a Halloween-ish type of book (whether scary or not) you should have plenty of choices.

Two weeks ago I gave y'all 17 Must Read Halloween Picture Books.  Those books are all fabulously fun books for this time of year whether you are reading to a toddler or high school student.  Adults will even love many of those books.  I know I love them all and have no problem reading them over and over again to my kids or myself.

Last week I gave y'all Spook-tacular Books for Everyone- 9 Great Halloween Reads that are Scary to Fun. These novels are fabulous and there is something for everyone (7th grade up to adult).  Have you read them all?

Now, I didn't want to let the Juvenile Literature aka Children's/Kids/Elementary School Student Chapter Book Readers without a good Halloween type of book; I mean, there are plenty of good books around.

These 10 Great Halloween Chapter Books are for kids that love to read scary and fun chapter books all about witches, ghosts, monsters, and more.  Though, adults, teachers, and librarians that love reading juvenile/children's literature will enjoy these reads as well.

Some of these books are more scary than others and some are more fun than scary, but they all are perfect for this time of year.

Fun book and fun read aloud, though the witches do prefer to eat children. Boys and girls alike will enjoy this book.  There is a movie based on the book as well.
Best for 4th grade and up,
though an advanced 3rd grader would be fine with the content.

Ibbotson is a tamer Dahl in quirkiness and weirdness.  This book is really just fun; girls will enjoy this book more than boys.
Best for 3rd grade and up.

Won a Newbery Honor for this book that both boys and girls will enjoy, though boys may be turned off by Doll in the title.  This book is about a group of friends that strive to appease a ghost.
Best for 4th grade and up.

This Newbery Award book is quirky and weird with some definite Halloween-ish events when one lives in a graveyard. To be honest this isn't my favorite Gaiman book (Coraline is my favorite, and it could work with this list), but I know loads of people that LOVE this Award winning book.
Best for 5th grade and up.

It's a Magic Tree House book, what more is there to say?!  This book is fun, a mystery, and it takes place at a haunted castle.  It's a quick re-read if your child loves the MTH books and has read them all.
Best for 1st, 2nd, or 3rd grade if your child loves MTH books.

All Hahn books are scary, and this one was one of my favorite scary books growing up.  Hahn knows how to write suspenseful and thrilling books for children. This is a great read aloud.
Best for 4th grade and up.

A book full of mystery and chills that will keep even the most reluctant reader's interest.  Boys and girls alike will love this tale, but dollhouse will mostly attract the girls.  Great read aloud.
Best for 4th grade and up.

This murder mystery is a great read aloud, full of suspense, and perfect for boys and girls alike.  I still enjoy reading this book over and over again.
Best for 3rd grade and up.

This book, and series, about vampire bunnies is an obvious choice for this book list.  It's more fun than scary though. Boys will love this book, and girls will enjoy it as well.
Best for 2nd grade and up.

This Schwartz book (author of Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark for older kids) is definitely a scary book, but not scary enough to bring about nightmares.  It's a fun read for reluctant readers of all ages.
This early-reader is great for beginning readers 1st grade and up.  Though it'd make a great Hi-Lo (High Interest Low-Reading Level) book for kids at older grades (ESL or other reasons) that are low readers but still want a book to interest them.

Happy Halloween Chapter Book Reading!
