Summer Reading!

I'm sorry I've been a little MIA lately. I'm having a baby any day now, she's actually due today. I would LOVE it if she decided to come today, but I'm not holding my breath. As a result of my impending arrival I've been reading a lot of books about parenting and getting babies to sleep at night. I'm a little nervous, to say the least, about the whole sleeping thing. I'm really great with 8 hours of sleep, and I would love it if my new little girl would let me get 8 hours still. However, I'm doubting that'll be the case. Though, I'm still hoping for it. As a result of my soon to be child and reading baby sleeping books I haven't read nearly as many "fun" books as I would like. Therefore, I've been MIA. Though, I'm thinking and hoping that all about that is going to change.
I did just finish reading Safe Haven by Nicholas Sparks. I was pleasantly surprised by this book. It was your typical light and enjoyable Nicholas Sparks read; however, it wasn't your "typical" storyline from Sparks. This one had an ending that surprised me. He's never written about anything supernatural/paranormal and this one had a bit. Don't worry, I don't believe I'm spoiling anything for you. It also had some intense parts, and though you knew they were coming you were still on pins and needles. The book was even a lot cleaner than most of his books; I didn't come across a large section of lovey dovey stuff that made me uncomfortable. All in all, it was a fun book to read. I know many have already read this one, but if you haven't this would be a great book for the summer.
I love the summer time. I don't have to work, and I get to read a lot of books. Every summer I have a big list of books I'd like to read. That list is continually added to and I love that I keep finding great books I want to add to it. I'm sure many of you do the same thing. Below is my list of summer reading books. I'm sure this is just the start, but you have start somewhere. Let me know if there are any that I should add to my list.

Megan Ruth's Summer Reading
  • Speak by Anderson (I read it a long long time ago, and I think it's time I pick it up again)
  • The Forest of Hands and Teeth by Carrie Ryan (Possibly read the 2nd and 3rd in the series as well).
  • Wicked Girls by Hemphill (This is a Salem Witch Trials type of book... fiction though)
  • Confessions of the Sullivan Sisters by Standiford (I like the cover and it could be interesting. Though, I've read mixed reviews on it.)
  • Virals by Reichs
  • BB Wolf and the Three LPs by Arnold (This is a 3 little pigs and the big bad wolf graphic novel with a twist. Hopefully I can find it at the library.)
  • The Miracle Stealer by Connelly
  • Between Shades of Gray by Sepetys (I'm excited about this one. The setting is 1941 Serbia, the main character and her family are forcibly removed from their home in Lithuania.)
  • Lost Boy, Lost Girl: Escaping Civil War in Sudan by Dau and Akech (A non-fiction book with a now husband and wife team. They both tell their different accounts of escaping Sudan. They didn't meet until they got to America. I've heard really great things about this one.)
  • Pathfinder by Orson Scott Card (My mom just brought this book. This will probably be the first one I tackle. If you've never read Ender's Game by Card you most definitely should.)
  • The Wager by Napoli
  • Dead Beautiful by Woon
There we go. That is my list of summer reading fun! Let me know if there are others that I most definitely should read as well. Happy Summer Reading to all of you! Okay, to the few people that actually read this blog. :)
