The Birth Order Book

The Birth Order Book: Why you are the way you are by Dr. Kevin Leman is fun, but wordy non-fiction personality book.  The book analyzes birth order and the impact it has on personality.  Often while reading this book I found myself analyzing myself and my husband, our children, and all of my brothers and sisters.  It was fun and seemed to be right on in several ways.

All in all, it was a fun read, but I would probably give it 3 out of 5 stars.  Now, you might wonder why I give it such a low rating when I am saying it was a fun read and I was able to apply it to my own life.  However, it was wordy.  Leman made it much longer than it needed to be; he seemed to drag some concepts on and on and on.  Leman did a great job bringing in lots of stories to support his theory and to provide entertainment, but I think there was too much.  This book could've easily been half the size, and I personally think it would make the book a lot better.  However, it's still a fun read, and you can skim the repetitive parts.

So, if you are looking for a fun and different personality book, that seems to be pretty legit, then go check The Birth Order book out.  Plus, it is a great discussion book for a book club.
