Orange Creamsicle Cookies

Orange Creamsicle Cookies taste like dreamsicle popsicles but they aren't cold. You get the fresh flavor of orange with the creaminess of vanilla morsels. Alohamora Open a Book http://alohamoraopenabook.blogspot.com/

Happy Memorial Day!  I love what this day represents, and I love that it means the unofficial start of summer.

With it being summer time that means it's popsicle time.  Naturally then it's the battle between Fudgesicles and Orange Dreamsicles.

On Friday I gave you a super easy recipe for creamy and delicious Fudgesicles.  I love chocolate.  I love those Fudgesicles.

However, I've come to personally realize, and it is sad to me, that not everyone is on the chocolate Fudgesicles' team.

Some people, like my husband the non-chocolate fan, are on the Orange Dreamsicles' team.

If you are on my team, Team Fudgesicles, make some of these easy peasy simple Fudgsicle Popsicles.

Though, if you are on Team Orange Dreamsicles then you should make some of these deliciously creamy and fresh Orange Creamsicle Cookies.

These cookies give you that fresh orange flavor with the creaminess from the vanilla morsels.  It's an orange dreamsicle in cookie form, and it is delicious.

Even Team Fudgesicles like myself enjoy these cookies.  Though, I guarantee Team Orange Dreamsicles will drool over them.

Orange Creamsicle Cookies
Recipe: Alohamora slighly adapted from Baked Perfection
Active Time: 30 minutes
Inactive Time: 15-20 minutes
Servings: about 3 dozen with a Medium Scoop (11/2 Tbsp dough balls)

Ingredients:

1 c. butter, softened
1/2 c. sugar
1/2 c. brown sugar, packed
1 egg, large
2 tsp. vanilla

2 c. flour, unbleached all purpose
3/4 tsp baking soda
1/4 tsp salt
2 Tbsp orange zest (that is zest from 1 medium sized orange)
1 pkg (11 oz) white chips.

Directions:

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

  2. In a large bowl or stand mixer cream butter and sugars until light and creamy (about 3 minutes mixing on low).
  3. Beat in the egg and then the vanilla until smooth and just combined.
  4. Add on top of the butter/sugar mixture in order the flour, baking soda and salt.  Mix until just combined.
  5. Add the orange zest and mix on low until just combined
  6. Finally add the white morsel chips and mix until just combined.
  7. Use medium cookie scoop (or about 1.5 Tbsp) to drop cookie dough balls on a cookie sheet with a baking liner, parchment paper, or even an ungreased cookie sheet. I prefer the baking liners, but my husband does not love washing them. :)
  8. Bake cookies at 350 degrees for 7-9 minutes until they are barely golden brown on the edges.  My magic number was 8 minutes.
  9. Cool for a few minutes on the cookie sheet before transferring cookies to a cooling rack.
  10. Enjoy with milk!
  11. The cookies are the absolute best fresh.
  12. Though, you can store leftover cookies in an airtight container for up 5 days.  You can also freeze the cookies in an airtight container after they are baked and cooled to keep the freshness for longer.  However, making more cookies is an excellent option as well.
Happy fresh and creamy Orange Creamsicle Cookie goodness eating!
