It's the start of a new year! That means new goals to accomplish. I know many people have "Read More" on their lists of things to accomplish this year, but often people aren't sure what to read. .
Well, I have a fun little reading game to help you read more and possibly read something new that you may end up loving. This Tic Tac Toe Book Reading List is a fun way to pick your next book.
When I was a teacher I would create these Tic-Tac-Toe charts for independent work time for my students. The kids loved being able to choose what to do or work-on next, and I loved having them get their work done happily. Sometimes I would say they needed to get a horizontal, vertical, or diagonal line, but some weeks they could choose.
Just like students, you can choose what book to read, and you can choose for a horizontal, vertical, or diagonal line to "win" the reading game. However, if you are an over achiever or love to read go for the Black-Out like me. No peer pressure, but the blackout is what all the cool kids are doing. ;).
This is what I'm going to read for my BLACKOUT...
A Book Being Turned Into a Movie:
I know many Middle School boys that love this series. It's about time I give it a go so I can truly talk "books" with them.
The movie, The Seventh Son is due to come out February 6
A Book That Has Won An Award:
I always read the Newbery, Caldecott, and Printz books. As soon as they announce those winners I'll be requesting them from the library.
A Book By a New Author:
This is Johnston's first book, and her second comes out this year. I actually know her so it is even more exciting to read her debut book.
A Book By An Author You've Never Read:
To my memory I have never read a book by Evans. I know he is known for The Christmas Box but I don't recall it. Have you read this book?
A Book You Own But Never Read:
Moloka'i by Alan Brennert
It looks awesome and has received great reviews. A setting in Hawaii which sounds great right about now, and it is a historical fiction which are so fun when done fabulously. This year I'm reading this one!
A Graphic Novel:
I love a well done graphic novel. They are a completely different reading experiences, and I think they are just fun.
A Book That Has Been on Your TBR (To Be Read) List:
I thoroughly enjoyed the Book Thief and this book by the same author has been on my TBR list for a good long while. There are always so many books to read.
A Non-Fiction Book:
My husband got me this book for Christmas. He knows how much I loved Bomb and being a guy he loves non-fiction so he gravitates towards buying me NF books. I love that he buys me books, and I love being pushed out of my fiction comfort zone. This book about civil rights, a disaster and mutiny all sound intriguing.
A Classic:
I LOVE this series, like every other person in the world. It's actually been a couple years since I've read them, and I've been craving it. I need more HP in my life.
Are you going to play? How are you going to win the Tic Tac Toe Reading Game?
Happy Reading!
