5 Books to Fall For
The Shadow of the Wind by Carlos Ruiz Zafon
Years ago, in my Denver days, a friend let me borrow this adult fiction book. I really had no expectations except this fabulous lady, one of my library volunteers, and amazing baker/chef, told me she loved the book. So, I read it... and it is fabulously written and an all around fabulous story that I have always loved from the day I read it.
Goose Girl by Shannon Hale
Best for 4th grade and up, but this fantasy book will be loved by all ages (mostly girls). The series is fabulous as well. It's a book that I go back to over and over again.
The Cardturner: A Novel about a King, a Queen, and a Joker
by Louis Sachar
When I read Holes by Sachar I felt he was a fabulous writer. I came across this young adult book when it first came out, and again loved the complex entwined story with characters you can relate to I was surprised how much I loved this story.
Best for 8th grade and up just so they can appreciate the depth and complexity of the story.
Friday Night Knitting Club by Kate Jacobs
This adult fiction is a great read. It is light and fun but there is emotional depth as well. This book surprised me with how much I'd enjoy this read.
Someday My Prince Will Come: True Adventures of a Wannabe
Princess by Jerramy Fine
This adult memoir is best for adults so they can appreciate the humor and relate to the character. This memoir is a fun read where you will find yourself laughing and cheering right along with the character.
Harry Potter by J.K Rowling
Obviously this series is on my list of books I've fallen hardest for. To say I love this series is an understatement. I've read the series more times than I can count. However, I know everyone has read this book and probably equally loves it. Therefore, Harry Potter is a bonus book in this series.
Harry Potter: Goblet of Fire is my favorite book. Do you have a favorite HP?
Happy Reading! If you haven't read these 5 books go check them out. I bet you'll fall for them as well.
What books have you fallen hardest for?
Thank you for the list, I have been in a book slump lately and need something to bring me out of it. As far as my favorite HP book, I think I'd have to say the first one. I just love the newness of the magical world and my first introduction to each of the characters each time I read it. I have too many favorite books to make a short list (how did you do it?), but the one that still sticks in my mind more than a year later is Between Shades of Gray. Boy do I love that book!
ReplyDeleteHarry Potter 1 huh? I can totally see and understand your reasoning. I agree. The initial magic of it all is pretty fabulous. Making a short list was hard, but you do what you gotta do. ;) Let me know what you think of the books.
